Time for another manga review - this time of MewMew Po... Ooops, sorry, I mean Tokyo Mew Mew. Having a hard time remembering what it's called this week... ^^;
1 - Who is the Blue Knight?
A chapter of two parts - the first explaining some of Keiichiro's past
& how the Mew Project came about (along with why he can transform
into Alto). In the second part, Ichigo's latest date with Masaya is
interrupted when strange things begin to happen in Tokyo Bay. When
Ichigo runs into problems, the Blue Knight saves her once again - but
later tells her he doesn't want her to fight anymore. Strangely,
Masaya's telling her the same thing...
2 - A Kiss for Kish
Ichigo's starting to see a connection between Masaya and the Blue
Knight - but she doesn't get a chance to think about it for long, as
Kish turns up to spoil the moment. After capturing Ichigo, he seems to
be trying to rile her - but then he makes a startling admission...
Meanwhile, Masaya chases after them, determined to have Kish release
Ichigo - and when he finally catches up, he transforms into the Blue
Knight...
3 - Finding Masaya
One revelation after another - after losing to the Blue Knight over
Ichigo, Kish seems to welcome the Blue Knight's 'reawakening', although
nobody else seems to know what he means... Meanwhile, the aliens' plans
for Tokyo Renaissance are gathering pace - a huge dome has covered
Tokyo, preventing fresh air froim reaching the inhabitants. If the Mew
Mews can't somehow break the dome, everyone inside it will die....
4 - A Dome of Doom
The Mew Mews need to find some Mew Aqua - and lots of it - if they're
to have any hope of saving Tokyo. At first it seems things are going
their way, with the Blue Knight helping them out, but then things start
to go wrong - although Zakuro manages to find the Mew Aqua and break
the dome, something seems to be happening to the Blue Knight.. It's the
awakening that Kish & his friends were waiting for, and the Blue
Knight give way to Deep Blue - leader of the aliens, and determined to
destroy humanity. Can Ichigo cope with the revelation that her beloved
Masaya is now their greatest enemy?
Extras
Sleeping Beauty of Strawberry Forest
Another short story that unrelated to Tokyo Mew Mew,
but is fun to read nonetheless. Kotori's a young girl who loves her pet
bird, Rose, who she keeps permanently locked up in a small birdcage.
While out for a walk in the forest, Rose manages to escape from her
cage, & Kotori begins desperately searching for her. All she
manages to find, though, is an obnoxious boy, who initally doesn't seem
to be too helpful. There are a few things he manages to teach Kotori,
though...
Hi, I'm Ringo Akaii!
Details of a new Mew Mew character introduced in the PlayStation game.
You can feel now that the story is beginning to kick into high gear
as it heads towards its climax, with a series of revelations helping to
put the Mew Mews firmly into the position of underdog. In terms of how
this all appears on the page, you get a series of action pages with
very little in the way of dialog - you can flip through this volume at
high speed and not miss anything, as everything you need to know is
shown in the artwork. Very well done...
Okay, so some the revelations about Masaya / Blue Knight / Deep Blue
were fairly obvious if you've been paying attention, and Ichigo &
co's reactions are fairly typical of anime / manga, but thanks to the
attachment I've built up with the characters over the last few volumes,
the story still managed to pull a good reaction from me. Everything's
now set up for what will hopefully be a good resolution - expect a
writeup on volume 7 fairly soon...! |
